Yes. I agree that the angle is related to the safe and longivity of the heat absorption cooling system so you don't over heat the refrigerent and boil them into solid. The angle is the function of the plumbing design of the specific fridge.

I won't argue that may be some reduction in efficiency of the fridge at the extreme of this angles but I suspect very slight.

The +/- 8 degrees has nothing to do with the burner flame and everything to do with the circulation of the refrigerating agent (I think it might be chlorine???) within the refrigerator's system.

AFAIK the +/- 8 degrees also applies to all axis, front to back and side to side.
