When my last set of MXT 205/70 R14's wore out, I switched to Michelin XCA 205/75 R14's. The tire is a tiny bit larger in diameter than the MXT's but is a "D" rated tire and is an actual 8 ply tire, not a 6 ply rated 8 ply. My Michelin dealer first told me the tire was not available, but then found it listed under their commercial tire line. The tread is not as aggressive as the MXT, but it does serve well. The sidewalls are tall and stiff, and because of such my vanagon is very stable and tracks as on rails. Regards, John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
