Why bother? A new rear heater core is only $51.91

Cheers,

I have a rear heater unit with leaky core which I would like to fix...cheaply. I seem to recall that some other cores will fit , Archives shows that the part #867 819 121 A was discovered to be same as for VW Polo heater core, but that doesn't help much here in NA.

Anyone know if any other VW share the same heater core?
