Subject: Re: Longer range gas tank?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi All, My thoughts are to extend the tank to the rear, with the back section of another tank. On 2WD, anyway it looks like there is about an empty foot of space there? Welders pump Inert Gas Into the Tank, To Keep It From Exploding. I think this would add about another Six Gallons. John C. SLC, UT...

Despite all the warnings folk give about welding tanks, there ARE people who modify steel tanks. Therefore it would cetainly be possible to cut and extend a stock tank. I will consider this myself if the range turns out to be too poor with the SVX engine.

I haven't ever LOOKED at the tank, but surely it would be posible to add lobes to the sides and possibly raise the top, maybe lower the bottom. As the BenT one hints, Winkler charges both arms, both legs & everything between.

It's also simpler than fitting extra tanks, fillers, connecting lines, auxiliary pumps etc, which i've also considered. -- Andrew Grebneff Dunedin New Zealand Fossil preparator <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toota van nut
