When my driver's door didn't work, I found broken wires in the rubber connector at the door hinge. Fixing them made it work. Yes, replacing a boot will always prolong the life of a CV. Regreasing them at the same time is normally done. the grease comes with the Loebro boot kits. once the axle is out, you only need to remove ONE CV from the shaft. The second boot can be pulled from the other end as well. It's amazing how long CV's last when taken care of. I think my brown 87 has 3 of its original CV's. 145k miles! I've already replaced the left rear CV Joint. My mechanic advised that the left front boot was torn and that joint would go in 10,000 miles or so. There is no sign of trouble now. I'm wondering if it is inevitable that the joint will fail because the boot is torn, or if I can repair the boot and extend the life of the joint? Has anyone repaired a CV Joint Boot? > >All advice welcome. > >Thanks, >Jim Lowe >'87 Synchro GL > > >
