I am new to the Vanagon list, so if my input about tires is common knowledge please understand. I put Michelin MXT 205/70 R14 tires on my 90 Carat. When I purchased the van it had Dunlop "sports" tires on the alloy rims. The van handled like a tractor and was greatly affected by the wind. The Michelin's now have 30,000 miles on them and look as though they can go at least another 30,000. Yes, I paid a little more, but it has been well worth the money. The bottom line: Would I by the Michelin's again? Very definitely yes!

Jerry
