Well.

Just got back from a 20 mile drive on nice smooth rubberized asphalt - the surface where the steering wheel feedback is (was?) the most noticeable. It seems to have gone away almost completely. I was able to pick up a tiny bit of vibration through the steering, but that may have been due to the fairly well worn tires with which I was doing the testing.

Next step: go talk to Discount Tire and see what they have to say.
