Here is a message from Ken giving some info on the tank, it was $759 in May of '02 and not getting any cheaper. Don't know if he still sells these....

These tanks have to be TUV approved. That means they undergo testing in Germany to be sure that they are going to meet or exceed crash test criteria, etc. for the particular vehicle. It is expensive to go through this for a parts manufacturer so this cost is passed on to the customer. However the quality level is as high as a VW dealer tank. These run around $500. So you are getting a larger tank with the same level of quality as the original it is going to cost. Also shipping these from Germany isn't cheap. It is a good deal if you compare it to the German made dealer tanks. If you want to go the cheap way and buy the Taiwanese tanks for next to nothing, remember, you get what you pay for. Just FYI. I don't sell these a lot, they are not a big money maker for me, however they are a good product and I think the price is not out of this world for what you are getting.
