I knew this description bothered me somehow, and it just hit me why -- these switches have a rubber diaphragm between the plunger (which is quite a clever device in a mild way -- it has to turn a quarter-inch of movement into maybe a sixteenth of switch actuation, and it has to not fall out on the floor) and the works of the switch. So if you got anything in there at all, it's because the diaphragm is busted. Knowing that, I assumed without much thought that you were sneaking the solvent in from above somehow.
