ok for those that may have been lightly following, I'm in the completion stage of my 1980 AC to TD swap.

I am having a tranny gear grind while shifting, and the clutch is barely disengaging the driveline.

I can't shift into/outof gears while standing still (parked ready to roll) and can feel a very slight drag on the engine.

I just converted my 1980 AC tranny to Diesel BH and input shaft. the Clutch slave bracket is in a differant location then the AC slave so I used the Diesel slave bracket but of course reused the AC slave cylinder.

there is a little metal strap that goes from the slave bracket to a lower bolt to offer a foot, I'm imagining for stabilty and strength against the forces of the clutch arm/cylinder.

I checked the Hydraulic fluid it's full in the Master Cylinder.

I put in about 3.4qts of synthetic blend GL where the text calls for 3.7, though I've heard List rumor that you should fill slightly below the fill hole, so withheld some.. I'll add upto the fill hole tonight after work to see if that helps the 'grind' but I KNOW the clutch isn't disengaging from the engine FULLY.

is there an adjustment in the Clutch Slave mechanism? or do I just put more washers between the slave bracket and the Starter motor ear. ( the clutch slave bracket goes on the 'outside' of the starter ear when fastened to the motor, which is a major PITA to put the starter in place.)

now one other variable that may be present is that I bought a 215mm (bus/vanagon spec'd ) clutch disc that was offered here on the list from oregon in the spring.. I know that www.bus-boys.com (and other vendors) have the Diesel Specific clutch for a significant higher price then a T-II 215mm disc 068-141-033J Disc Plate, 215mm Vanagon Diesel $88.85 025-141-031H Disc Plate, 215mm 1800 Bus 74-75 Vanagon 1900 Early 1983 (To VIN 25-D-002308) $40.00

I have both Discs on the work bench and will greater analyze the subtle differances (if any) after work today. I was going with the belief that the diesel disc woul dhave a differant center for shock load of moving the large HP deficient van..

any assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I'm still planning on taking this camper 150 miles round trip this wkend to westies@ watkins and a grinding shifter just won't allow that.
