Subject: Questions on oil drain plug
Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII

Hi List, I'm in the middle of doing my own oil change on my 87 van for the first time. I have a couple of quick drain plug questions. First, is there normally a rubber o-ring on the drain plug (in addition to the metal washer)? If so, how often do you folks advise changing it? Is it a special VW part or is it OK to get one from the nearest FLAPS? The replacement washers I bought are aluminum. Are they just as good to use as the copper (original?) washers? As always, I am very grateful to anyone who replies. Lee Kouns
