I also have this "whine" eminating from my AT - I believe first gear has straight cut gears, second and third are Helical (if that is the right word).

Others who have an automatic transmission may be able to tell me if the

whine I hear from the transmission when accelerating in 1st gear is

normal or not. Goes away as soon as the AT shifts to 2nd.

Fluid/filter just replaced. Noise was present before the servicing,

still there now -- no change. Shifts a whole lot better, though.
