Well ,after reading all your suggestions, I decided to do the fastest job. I replaced the pop-top truss screws and carriage bolts with new stainless steel for $8.55. No, they aren't metric, but the nut size of 1/4" is like 11 mm. I wasn't about to pay $1.25 each from Goghwesti for a total of 23 screws. They look almost original , and it will never be a problem if a screw has to be removed - 11 mm will do it. Gone are the slotted screws, replaced with phillips but with the same wide truss head. I also repaired the skylight vent rollers and cleaned and polished the fiberglass top. For the front luggage which has four truss screws, I'm going to re-tap the brackets to accept the (11 mm) screws. You can't find metric around here and that big slotted screw is an old idea- they don't even have that in SAE. Robert 1982 Westfalia
