That pice is called the window scraper. It leeps some of the water from going into the door and cleans the window, (rain, fog, or lite frost) when the window is lowered and raised again. It comes with the chrome attached except the later ones which do not use the chrome. Inter changeable and readily available.

The drivers and passenger windows...bottom external weatherstip piece which goes on bottom piece of window and up about 2 inches has been eaten by the sun. It looks like there is chrome under this piece.

Is this mainly comestic or do I really need to replace? It looks ugly but I'm ok with that as long as it doesn't serve some other purpose.
