All Vanagons have 7mm (not 8mm) fuel line from the fuel pump back. On vehicles with a plastic fuel filter in front of the fuel pump, the diameter is different up to the filter - 11mm, as I recall. On vehicles that only have a filter behind the fuel pump, it's 7mm all the way from front to back. From the fuel pump back, 20 feet is far more than you would need. In fact, even 10 feet is probably more than you would need, I suspect. But obviously you would need more if you also are replacing the line from the tank to the pump. Continental and Cohline (both German companies) make appropriately rated high-pressure hose. Continental's is smooth-jacket, Cohline's is not. There is also plenty of fuel line out there that is not rated to handle for the Vanagon fuel injection system, and can be dangerous. Stick with someone who knows Vanagons (such as myself, Vanagain, Volks Café, or your local dealer if you are independently wealthy) to be safe.

I sell the fuel hose for $5.95 per meter (about 3 feet):
