I wonder if this couldn't be my problem as well? I'm the '85 Vanagon that experienced power loss in what sounds like the same fashion. I've gone through the entire engine & replaced or cleaned all electrical connectors; inspection of the hoses seems to be fine; new battery & so on.

So, here's the part where my trademark stupid question comes in. Where is the fuel filter & how does one replace it? My 1.9 was replaced with a 2.1 if that makes it different. Lots of books have been recommended to me, none of which I've been able to find at the library, and the budget doesn't allow me to purchase them just yet. So, most unfortunately, I have no reference materials aside from my new wonderful friends here at the list! :)

Thanks everyone! And good luck, Joy...I hope it all works out easily for you! ~Amanda Shank amanda@lakeeffectdogs.com
