It's called a sealed sender. No air, no exposed sparks, no air. No Sha Boom, Sha Boom. Fuel level arms, sender's have been used since Ben Franklin invented them. No problem. Don't plug in your fuel pump though. This could be the big bang.

George, etal,           I've wondered the same. I have wiring a complete antique car, all except the fuel sender. Until I fully understand why electricity in the fuel tank does not blow, I refuse to install the fuel sender. Any input on this?
