Look at the 2nd gear servo cover, and the governer cover. The o-rings dry up and will leak at these locations. The governer cover will leak and it will appear that the axle seal is leaking, which has nothing to do with the trans anyway. If you find that it's the 2nd gear brake band servo cover seals leaking ( there's two of them on that cover under that flat spring-clip) do not pop off the clip without releasing the tension from the brake band adjustment screw on the other side of the trans. You will not be able to get the cover back into the hole. There is big spring tension on that piston under that cover. The governer cover seal is simple. pop off the bail, clean the mating surfaces, replace the o-ring and put it back together.

If this isn't the answer ( you didn't mention how many miles on the vehicle) Pressure wash the the trans and keep an eye where it's coming from. Usually you can let it idle and if the leak is as bad as you said it is, it will apppear pretty quick.

Hello All: For the last week or so I've had an Auto Transmission leak in my 1990 Carat that I'm having trouble locating the exact spot.
