Wow, that's more than one engine rebuild per week for forty years. I find
that hard to believe.....

You won't find it if you look for "air test" but if you search for "leak
down test" you will find that its done  all the time.  Quite a common
method for checking out an engine before deciding to tear it apart.


Its not like its some big secret or anything.
