One thing I forgot (at least, one....;) One of the times I took the fridge out was to install the GoWesty air pump modification. Three pieces--an O-ring that helps seal inside the air piston, a bigger outlet hole and a one-way valve so no air can be sucked back.

It makes a big difference. I used to pump 100 times before lighting--really! Now, I think 10 times is the same.

I don't know when Westys started having this mod installed; mine is an '87. Also, I don't think you can tell without removing the fridge--although maybe by removing the side grill and looking in at the top, back of the fridge for the presence or absence of the one-way valve.

I thought the kit was pricey--$18.95--but now highly recommend it as worthwhile. http://www.gowesty.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=055-131-101K&Category_Code=cp-ce-lpg If that link get folded or broken, go to http://www.gowesty.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=SRCH&Store_Code=gw and enter "check" and you'll get there. 182b Fridge Check Valve Update Kit.
