Dave, don't touch the limiter screws, Especially to adjust a 'slack' cable. the proper Throttle cable adjustment is in under the front end, theres a small trapezoidal shaped plastic cover that keeps grime from the pivot and cable. there's a barrel nut there (8mm??) lossen it, pull the cable slack out from the rear, while maintaining that the pivot from the peddle is all the way 'where it should be' for at-rest.. (i'm not sure exactly if it's up or down. but should be evident.)

While your in there use some white lithium grease on all the pivots and cable connections.

also I'm not sure if you have to drop the spare to service the cable connection. Good Luck and happy dieseling 8-)

I was extracting the screw from my engine block on my 83 diesel (thanks to all those who offered advice, it came out fine and the new oil sensor is in and working) and I noticed that there is a fair amount of slack on the throttle cable that is connected to the carb (do diesels have carbs?) and then works it=B9s way forward to my pedal. I noticed that there are two limiter screws on either side of this thing, one to set the beginning of it=B9s travel and one to set the end limit. So my question is, should I readjust the cable tension so it is taught in the =B3at rest=B2 position, or do I set the first limiter screw so that the cable is taught?

Not sure if that made sense but hopefully you=B9ll get the picture.

Thanks

Dave
