I had a drain plug so tight I had to use a small pipe wrench on the external threads to get it loose. If you can get the fill plug out you can drain the tranny with a hand pump and refill from there. You just need to get the rear of the Van up about 2 feet higher than the front and you can get a complete drain when you pump out the old fluid.

I want to change the tranny oil on my 4 speed 84 Westy.

The 17mm allen head drain plug (and filler plug) are really tight. I tried a 17mm bolt with double nuts but it wouldn't work.
