I just pulled the heads on my 1985 1.9 Westy and sent them to the shop. I was looking for a low compression problem of 25 lbs in cyl 1. (the rest are about 130lbs) But only found a worn valve guide that was not allowing the valve to seat. Now I am considering replacing the rings if it will help and if it is possible while the engine is still in the van. (The van does not blow any oil at all). Id like to hear for anyone who has done it. Any special tool or procedures needed? Thanks, Vince
