Not to flog a dead horse, (OK, maybe a bit) but with all this talk of fuel pumps and filters, I had to let y'all know: I was poking around the fuel filter aisle looking for something with a 7/16" inlet and outlet when I came across a FRAM G3802A ($6 Cdn), which looked a lot like our filters ($25 Cdn). They are used in roughly a gazillion Fords, for instance most Taurusses (e.g. '88-'95 w/3.8L, '86-'00 w/3.0L) I picked one up and compared it to the cheapo replacement Vanagon filter. Dimension VW Ford Fuel in/out 0.318" 0.312" Body Diameter 2.907" 3.045" Length ~3" ~4.3" So if you're REALLY cheap, or are cleaning a dirty fuel tank, or sumpin' like that, consider a Ford Taurus filter instead of a VW one. For a picture comparing the two, please see
NOTE: The only thing that has me concerned at this point is I haven't been able to determine the pressure the Taurus fuel system is supposed to run at. Anyone? Beuller? Anyone?
