I drive an 88 GL, so there is some close comparison.

I think with that much body damage, the one you are looking at on Samba
is a bit steep. I think you your estimate of $2k being a bit much is
right on. If the engine and tranny were as said, and the body was clean,
then it might not be far off the mark.
