Red line is the max recommended operating rotation

The rev limiter kicks in when you have gone to the danger point of the engine.

Red line can be exceeded for passing and other short duration events but should never be exceeded routinely unless you like to get new engines sooner than normal. On my aircooled the red line was at about 4200 or about 76 mph. The limiter kicked in at about 5200.

The waterbox engines went up slightly with the 1.9 and then again with the 2.1 but only slightly in each step. About 5mph in each step.

Trying to find my sheets but I believe the 2.1 redline was at about 4.7 with a cutout at about 5.6k this would give a normal top end of about 85 mph for cruising and a cutout of about 100mph in 4th gear.
