Just pretend that you're a Full Time Volkswagen Mechanic and you're getting paid 40% of $130.00 an hour labor rate to take those parts off. You'll feel a lot better about the extra effort. --------------- If you're going to do a valve job on those heads you'll need enough tools and presses to press in new valve seats, press out the guides and press in the new guides. You'll also need a vertical mill with the proper tools to fly cut those heads. A three cut is best for valves so you'll be needing three stones to cut the seats but you can get by with two angles on the valves.

Was planning on pulling the heads on my 85 this weekend and giving it a valve job. However, the Bently manual says to first remove both the A/C compressor and power steering units.

I believe I can get to the heads without removing this stuff. Is this really necessary??

Thanks for the help.

Vince
