crude, but interesting..and it gives me an idea for a completely stock looking job.. :<)

here goes: if you were to take a pair of regular square door hinges (not the wedge shaped strap hinges like you used) tap out the pin, and enlarge the holes to accept the headrest mount bars...and do this: peel back that black cloth tape that covers your staples that holds your seatback upholstry on...carefully pry out the staples.. pull back the upholstry and foam from the plywood seatbacking..(just from the top edge-dont need to remove the sides) ...then drill and mount the hinge sections INSIDE the seatback, between the foam and plywood. cut little holes for the headrest mount bars to stick thru..and recover/staple upholstry back down... viola! no ugly hinges to be seen!

anyway..if anyone is interested in doing this rear headrest coversion to their westy and needs some headrests...i have a bunch for sale.. grey, tan, blue or brown.. let me know..
