Hi,

I just pulled out the PS rack, and installed a used manual this weekend. You do need the correct/longer steering rack coupler. I have left the orig steering wheel on, and have no real difficulty moving the wheels at a stand-still, but naturally it is stiffer than the PS. I plugged the hydraulic lines with rubber fuel line- one end closed with a screw that fits tightly, and the other clamped to the end of the hydraulic line, as well as a tie-wrap to keep the line fitting from moving around much. Jeff at www.vanagonparts.com (email: sales@vanagonparts.com) can likely hook you up with the manual coupler.

Happy Steering,

mike
