Subject: The Cool Cooler

I'd like to find an ice chest that will fit under the front edge of Mellow Yellow's bed when the bed is opened. P-27 floor plan. Signs at the last campground advised against leaving coolers and other food storage items outside overnight due to bears. This at Palomar Mountain's Observatory campground, part of the Cleveland National Forest in California, where the bears were all hunted out decades ago. Ranger speculated, off record, that since bears are unlikely to have migrated from the Sierra Nevada across all that desert and those freeways unaided, his money was on Yosemite rangers quietly and illegally exporting their "trouble bears" to other forest areas. His opinion only. But the bears are reputed to be back.

Anyway, the plastic cooler we have is too tall to fit under the open bed-shelf and is pretty much in the way when hauled indoors at night. Something less than 13-3/4'' would be ideal. I tried the likely places, like Cabela's and Campmor and Coleman with no luck.
