You're opening a barrel of worms here. Damned if you do and damned if you don't but you're going to need to repair or replace the cylinder and piston that has the 25 psi. Ask around from list members for a good used CP set for replacing the one or just brace yourself and buy a whole new set. If you think the low compression was related to the head you still need to do a good micrometer inspection and verification on the 25 psi cylinder before you go back together.

I just pulled the heads on my 1985 1.9 Westy and sent them to the shop. I was looking for a low compression problem of 25 lbs in cyl 1. (the rest are about 130lbs) But only found a worn valve guide that was not allowing the valve to seat. Now I am considering replacing the rings if it will help and if it is possible while the engine is still in the van. (The van does not blow any oil at all).

Id like to hear for anyone who has done it. Any special tool or procedures needed?

Thanks,

Vince
