Subject: wiper problem - thanks
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Hello all-

Thanks for the dozen or so replies to my wiper crisis this afternoon. It was really pouring out here in the midwest, really the first real rain I have had so far since Seattle/sep 15/2500 miles ago. The wiper suddenly lopped over to the hard left of the drivers seat, and I had a truck spraying all over the window. It was pretty scary, but I was able to take an immediate exit.

I pulled into a service station parking lot, they said it would take 30 mins wait to look at it. So I got out and looked at it, didnt see the seam where that little cap flips up, then looked at the bantley (discouraging as usual). I sent out my cry for help, thinking it would take a while for anyone to reply. After sendign the message, I looked at it again, and realized how to get the little cap off.

It was simple, just tightened the bolt, and the wipers worked just fine. I gave the service station dude $4 since he had his lunch in one hand as he came out to look at it, but I told him it was fine and went on my way.

The wipers worked just fine for the rest of the day (pretty stormy out here in the Ann Arbor area).

Thanks to all of you who did reply, I am sorry for the "false alarm" but I was so amazed that there was a wireless signal in New Holland (not sure if that was indiana or illinois) that I thought it was worth it to send out the plea.

This list is a real (potential) lifesaver.

BTW I do use rain-x (actually a product from japan called GRACO which I think is the same thing) but it doesnt work well under 40mph and also doesnt handle the problem of midwest-sized insect splatters so well.

I am very impressed with the responses I recieved... if I had not solved the problem myself, I would have had great insturctions within minutes.

Thanks listees!
