Is this a difficult job to undertake? Our local VW parts dealer has a stock muffler for about $150 and the replacement tailpipe for about $15. I saw the previous thread about high performance exhaust and .. well, we just want the stock exhaust. This is no performance vehice :-)
Tina & Yoel, for your consideration please see my _STEBRO/Vanagon Stainless Steel Exhaust System_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/stebro.htm) website. I offer a complete stainless steel muffler with integrated tail pipe and mounting brackets. This muffler assembly is guaranteed for life and will outlast your vehicle. If you need to replace your muffler, related gasket, the two OEM mounting brackets, bracket straps and tail pipe you will quickly see the cost of the STEBRO/Vanagon Stainless Steel Muffler is not that much more than others that will soon rust away again. I also have available the J-pipe and header pipes in stainless steel if needed. Changing the muffler is a pretty straight forward job and the most difficult part will be to remove the old muffler. If it is difficult to remove the top bolt on the muffler to CAT connection the best way around this is to remove the CAT with muffler by undoing the CAT to J-pipe connection as it is easier to get at if you need to cut the bolts loose. There is a 5% Listmember discount on orders over $50, please ask for it when ordering.
