Random????? Then I better raise all the cash I can and head straight for Vegas cause I am on a roll! I have had nothing but "test only" notices on my gasoline Vanagons for many years. Other area Vanagon owners get them too. I don't really mind though as the "test only" station is quick and painless most times. I even take cars there for tests that aren't required to be "test only". I don't think the testing is any different and the "test only" guys can't charge for adjustments or any such things like the standard test stations do to make money. Since all the "test only" station is allowed by law to do is hook it up and test, they can accurately predict how long each vehicle will take. When I make an appointment I know that I can show up, get my test at the scheduled time, be gone in 20-30 minutes. I am sure that model, age, and mileage are larger factors in selection than just random chance is.
