You might want to think about running a dual-switch setup like a lot of home lighting has (two switches operate the same device). That way, if you forget to leave yours off in the back, you can easily switch it in the front (or vica-versa). I'm not an electrical expert by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems you could use a couple dual-action switches that switch between two different circuits. If both switches connect to circuit 1 or 2, then you have power, but if they connect to different circuits, then you don't.
