Hi Guys,

Well my '92 is now at that certain age where several of the coolant
hoses are beginning to show their age.
I spent a short time on the weekend replacing the 12mm coolant line from
the RH head as there was crustiness from a small amount of evaporated
coolant at the connection to the plastic line that runs around the
engine bay hatch.

An inspection of every hose followed and whilst all is otherwise well in
the engine bay, I discovered that the RH bottom
radiator hose also shows the tell-tale signs of evaporated coolant
indicating a slight leak. I'll sort that one out ASAP
however I also found another apparent leak I had not really expected.

The heater valve located up behind the radiator, seen when you drop the
spare wheel and shine a light up there, is showing signs of having
leaked at some stage. No wetness, just deposits from a leak since
evaporated but after two days last week when the temp hit 100F
(thankfully it has now cooled down and is raining) and more to
eventually come, I need to deal with this sooner rather than later.

Anyway, what I was wondering is, are the heater valves a common source
of leaks previously experienced by others?
I can't recall them specifically having been referred to as a leak
source and I am obviously curious...

This is the first time in 12 years and 265,000kms that a hose has begun
to leak so I'm not complaining ;)
