I live in Kneeland, in the mountains 15-20 minutes East of Eureka. There are a bunch of us Vanagonites hiding behind the 'Redwood Curtain' I'm finding out. I've seen at least 4 other native Syncro and loads of Westies. My wife and I moved up here 3 years ago. It's wasn't quite what I thought it was, since it had been 20 years since I spent any time up here. We lucked out buying a house in a very friendly neighborhood. There is a very polarized political scene up here, mostly revolving around the clear-cutting of trees. This became a very real problem for us within 3 months of our moving here, when Pacific Lumber (PALCO) clear-cut 175 acres across the street from us. I need wood, just as much as the next guy, but clear-cutting is such a destructive practice. The watersheds here are some of the worst impaired in the country, and that's just the beginning. I wish the good folks who work for PALCO could see what their doing. If you're going to move to Humboldt, you'd better read the book, "The Last Stand" by David Harris. Happy house hunting!

-Steven Dodson Kneeland, CA "Inga" the 87 Syncro
