You may be correct, but as my earlier quote illustrates, the Japanese credit them both for helping in their quality turn-around. The two names are often associated for that reason, at least in my memory.

But if it's important to you (for QC reasons, of course) to know if only Deming physically travelled to Japan and became the "big deal", I'm sure that info is available.

I think a point which got lost is that Deming, Duran, et al, tried to work with American industry (before going to Japan) but got the cold shoulder. At least that's the story I was fed way back when. I'm sure that's a complex study all its own.
