Steve and listees: Not sure my heater valve was leaking externally, but rather internally. During the warmish summer months, I felt hot air coming from the dash air vents and wondered if my heater valve was closing all the way. I had ordered a new valve from Ken Wilfy a couple years ago and just been too lazy to put it on. Decided it was time to flush the 2 yr old coolant out of the radiator and lines, so I reached up in there and figured how of get it out and the new one in. While having theold one out and new one in hand, I closed both valves and blew on the hose barb on both valves on the side away from where the arrow was pointing, and the new valve didn't let any air through, the old one did. That job would be a mess if the lines were full of coolant, so during the flush is a great time to do that replacement.
