Subject: Shifter Knob Rattle- 88GL
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi Folks, Just back from a 600 mile round trip to Wells ME (really beautiful), and have a new concern. In 4th gear, normal cruising Rpms(3600-4000), there's a rattle sound that comes from the shift knob. It goes away with some gentle pressure or tapping, but then returns. Seems to change volume but not frequency with speed changes. I unscrewed the knob to tighten anything loose, but there wasn't anything in there. Is this a sound transmitted through the gear linkage, all the way from the tranny? Searched the archives, all questions no answers.

maybe meaningful clues: -Recently switched to Redline MT-90, probably the first fluid swap in the life of the tranny. -approx. 170k on the engine and tranny -Shifts easily (by my standards), stays in gear. -new clutch slave cylinder (two months ago)

-Matt Sutton 88 GL 4-speed Brooklyn NY
