Mine holds a soda can or coffee cup once in a while but it holds all my
punch cards from the coffee places, bread places, etc.  It also hides my
radar detector power cable.  I also have the speeding ticket I got 3 years
ago sitting prominently in the front tray reminding me that they ticket
around here for 5 over :-(.  

 

As far as construction my is made of fairly thick plastic.  I am thinking
about drilling it out to hold a digi-tool or something like that.

LOL  im suprised your dash cupholder/tray came out in one piece after a run
thru the dishwasher..those things are flimsy as hell.  id just wash it out
with some dishwashing deturgent in the sink.   mine is a conversation
piece.. im afraid to even use it theyre so brittle..and theyre only good for
holding soda cans anyway..
