I was going to suggest the exactly what Mike mentioned. It's usually when you've had the speedometer cable disconnected recently. Sometimes when you reconnect it, the cable isn't happy with the angle. Take the cover off for a while and when it clicks, reach down to the speedometer cable and adjust it up or down until the noise goes away. May not get it the first time but eventually you'll find an angle it's happy with.
