Hi Spencer,

Remove the grease with a wad of paper towels (lots of them) and repack both places with new grease before reassembly. Don't be afraid to get in there and clean everything up well. The cleaner the better. I repacked mine with CV grease, but I have forgot the brand I used. Someone on the list will know what to put back in there.

I have removed the shaft and CVs from right side on auto tranny 85. There is grese at the wheel and transmission where the CVs were. Does this need to be removed? It looks pretty packed in. Are there any tricks or precautions if it has to be removed? Also has anyone had problems with rebuilt half shafts and CVs? Thanks all. Spencer 85 West
