How naive. Standards don't mean a thing without vigilant scrutiny. I saw this some years ago in a consulting job I did at a factory which produced railroad brake beams. The manufacturing of these components are regulated and certified by the FTC because they are vital to railroad safety. The dumbshit plant manager had gone to China where he was sucked into buying their junk raw castings. Oh, the goods came with all the requisite documentation certifying the production from the time it was molten metal, but the paper had no more veracity than what you unreel as you are sitting on the crapper. Apparently, you got to watch those Chinese like a hawk or else they're gonna slip one in on you.
