Home useage amounts of ethylene glycol are to be disposed of through the sewage system. They are not permitted to be flushed through the storm sewer system. Commercial garages need to obtain permits for disposal and may have to install a pretreatment facility.

The facilities for sewage treatment are able to handle the antifreeze but the storm drain system usually just empties into the nearest flat land or river. Not a good place.
