Try your local VW shop. VW cars / busses with type I and II engines use several pieces of approximately 1" diameter aluminum flex hose.

Hi Volks, I am still working on my small propane heater design for the van and need a source of a good high temp hose suitable for venting out of the van.

I am currently using copper because it is available in the 1" size I need.

I know propex offers a nice aluminum or stainless hose for their unit.

I have tried Graingers and West Marine and neither have anything in the one inch range.

I know the stuff is made but I dont know who has it.

Anybody know of a good high temp (say up to 700 degree) flex line that is about 1 inch in diameter that could be used.

The stuff that dometic uses for the back of the fridge is actually very heavy duty compared to the much easier to flex lines that come with the Propex heater.

It will not take much, simple aluminum flex hose would work I just cant find anything in the smaller size.

There is no need to run larger and I dont want to cut huge 1 1/2 holes in the van to exit when all I really need for the small heater I am building is even as small as 3/4 diam.

Any input or thoughts would be appreciated.

Custom designs are a bugger, I am always trying to find what nobody makes.

Doug
