If you do not intend to reuse the headlight mounting hardware, just waste them; they are most likely half way there already. If you want to remove them without the brutality, you need to improvise three different extractors. Two are merely bushings sized to fit over the base diameter of the mounting but with an ID small enough to simultaneously retract the four retaining lugs of the mounting whenever the bushing is forced over the captive mounting. The nominal (I said NOMINAL) ID's will be 3/8" (10 mm) and 5/8" (16 mm), but check for a close sliding fit.

The third extractor has to be somewhat of a key with three pins to depress the three locking lugs of the mount all at the same time, then a slight twist of the mount will release it. If you do not want to use this extractor, the same technique used in picking a tumbler lock can be applied to this type of mount.
