That's cheap! VW makes one that works 100% with the VW Motronic and TDI ECUs - it came stock on the A2 Golf / Jetta / Corrado with the MFI. Cost is $135 Canadian for the device that does the same thing!

If you need a simple pulse then some hard drive magnets attached to the CV with a bicycle read switch is all you need and this costs about $20

$40? Ouch! :) (yeah, I know, it's the labor, not the parts) Thanks, but I'll probably just rig my own. I don't need the voltage regulation and such as I'll be doing that already for the microcontroller, and the output doesn't have to be anything in particular, as I'll be writing the software that turns it into something useful.
