Hi All,

In trying to again solve my obnoxiously-squeaky FRight brakes, I learned that the caliper (Teves aka ATE on the ETKA, AFAIK) had been rebuilt by a local Gainesville VW "Specialty" shop, apparently without properly placing the piston recesses (placement which is required to properly seat the damping plates), and leaving off the noise damping plates and top spreader spring.

Having obtained these parts, I am wondering if anyone knows: 1) How to move the pistons without disassembling the calipers and without the spiffy piston position-correcting VW tool (US 1023/2)?

2) Where to obtain the spiffy piston position-correcting VW tool (US 1023/2) as seen on Bentley 46.4?

3) Open to other suggestions- I've rebuilt calipers before, but never had to worry about positioning a piston with recesses that need specific placement- not sure how I would be able to place them properly if I do have to tear them apart.

No luck w/ archives.

Haven't said it in some time- but the List is Most Excellent, thanks to everyone for the help over the past several months.

Thanks, Mike 84 Westy "Lothar" 84 Van "Chauncey"
