That technology comes up every few years as changes in technology become
available.  The testings have also included "chameleon" materials that are
electronically controlled to shift color and pattern.

The best use of light tricks has to be a british magician that the britt
army put to work in world war two.  He used mirrors and light tricks to hide
an air base in the desert well enough that the germans couldn¹t find it
until they were right over it and then it was to late for them instead.

Second best has to be hollywood tricks done for airplane plants in the LA
area.  Buildings patterned and linked together in a way that at night they
vanished from sight from the air and then a couple miles over lights used to
look like building and road patterns like a mfr plant would look like.
